Liisa Keränen is a versatile musician with a Master’s Degree in Organ Performance and Church Music from Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, Finland. In addition the organ, she has certificates in piano, violin, choir directing, orchestra directing and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Pedagogue, with an emphasis on Music Theory. She has also studied organ improvisation and teaching improvisation to other people. She has been teaching music in various forms; private piano and organ lessons as well as group subjects for over 10 years in a Christian College in Jämsä, Finland. Her goal in teaching is to help students find the true music behind the notation, and to aid them in experiencing the joy of learning and making music come alive.
She moved to the United States in summer 2018 from Finland. She’s enjoying settling into this country and finding musical connections. In her free time she loves to read, clean and spend time with her family- whether it is playing word games or instruments!
