Kelby Strobel
Violin

A Twin Cities native, Kelby Strobel began taking violin lessons at the age of seven. In 2015, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Minnesota, where she studied with Mark Bjork and Sally O’Reilly. After graduating, Ms. Strobel continued her studies with Minnesota Orchestra violinists Aaron Janse and Cecelia Belcher. 

 

Ms. Strobel performs as an orchestral, chamber, and solo musician across the Midwest; she is a full-time member of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, and frequently performs with the Duluth-Superior Symphony, Lacrosse Symphony, and Mankato Symphony orchestras. Ms. Strobel performs on a David Folland violin, commissioned for her in 2010, and a Eugene Sartory bow, c. 1910.

Ms. Strobel has been teaching for over a decade; her students have gone on to study violin at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Bethel University, Concordia College, and St. Olaf College. Ms. Strobel accepts students of all ages and ability levels; she believes that with the proper instruction and dedication, learning to play the violin can be incredibly inspirational and rewarding. Ms. Strobel joined the Ovation Academy of Music faculty in 2021.
